So Who are We?

Kyle and Lauren Richardson
established December 20, 2011

But how did this cute couple end up together?

Well I'm about to tell you!

Let's start out with the time before Kyle and I even met. While Kyle and I were dating, we discovered that there were MANY times throughout our college years that we could've (and should've) met. We found out that while he was working at Legend's Grill, I actually applied to work there, but ended up taking a different job. Then, the next year, we were in the same Marriage and Family class, and sat RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER, and didn't even talk once. Fast forward through the summer, we actually ended up in the same ward, but didn't meet that first semester...AT ALL! Our timing was always off those early years at BYU. We were either dating someone else at that time, or too preoccupied with school to be in the social sphere. Or maybe we just weren't ready to meet each other yet.

All I know is that the semester we met was the best semester I had ever had.

Kyle and I met on a snowboarding trip set up by Kyle's roommate Levi and I. Levi and I worked at the BYU laundry, and were in the same ward, so we decided to get our mutual friends together for some night snowboarding at Sundance Ski Resort. I first met Kyle when we all got together to drive up to Sundance. He was very quiet, but I was determined to break him out of his shell. (I also thought he was amazingly handsome, and I wanted to flirt with him on this trip).

We snowboarded with all our friends, had a great time, and I even got to talk to Kyle a little bit (and sit next to him on the lift...oooo lala!). By the end of the trip, I had shoved a video camera in Kyle's face, declaring to the world that he was my boyfriend. Kyle totally thought this was funny (maybe he was a little bit creeped out as well) and he played along while on camera saying that our relationship was great and we were in love. I was shocked he played along, and from then on, I knew I wanted to get to know him more!

The semester continued and we remained really great friends. We would hang out all the time, joke around, occasionally flirt, and hang out with the rest of our ward. We were just having a lot of fun together, but deep down, I really wanted him to ask me out on a date. I always thought Kyle wouldn't actually ask me out though, because he was super popular with the female population, and I thought there were definitely cuter girls that he'd rather date.

Fast forward to spring semester. Kyle, Levi and I moved out of our old ward and into a new complex for the spring/summer. Kyle and I would continue to flirt, but this semester, he FINALLY asked me out on a real date! I was really nervous, but excited! Our first official date was to go mini golfing. We had a lot of fun together that night, and ended up deciding that we didn't want the night to end. We watched a movie together in the park, and ended up kissing. After that, we were inseparable for the rest of the semester.

I left for the summer to do an internship but we decided to keep on dating long distance. I was skeptical of this, just because I'd never had had good luck with long distance, but we talked every single second we could. I couldn't stop talking to him. As the summer progressed, we started talking about where our relationship was going, and we decided we wanted to get married.

I knew Kyle was the absolute best choice I could've made for a husband. We got along so well, and I was head over heals for him. He is so caring and thoughtful, and he always is looking out for me. I was scared to get married, but I knew it would be amazing to have Kyle as my husband.

When I got back to Provo after the summer was over, the very first thing Kyle and I did was start ring shopping (we did this even before I started moving things into my new apartment). It was a crazy feeling to be ring shopping with him, but so exciting at the same time! We continued to date and plan our wedding while the ring was getting ordered.

On September 24th, Kyle and I went up to Sundance Ski resort to ride the lifts. During the fall, the trees are beautiful up there, so we were really excited to see them. I was being very giddy while we were up there, and I wasn't quite in the mood to be serious, but Kyle was. After the lift we walked around all of the trails in the mountains at Sundance. Kyle wouldn't take his hand out of his pocket the whole time, which I thought was weird. He kept telling me how much he loved me as we walked, and my response was to sing rap songs and skip along the trails. I clearly had no idea what was going on.

Kyle popped the question on a secluded trail in the mountains at Sundance. He told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend the rest of eternity with me. He told me that Sundace was a very special place for us because that's were we officially met one another. After staring at him, and the ring, and then back at him, I finally screamed YES! We were officially engaged to be married.

The rest of the semester was a blur of school and wedding planning. It was very stressful to try to balance our very crazy school schedules, with planning a wedding that would be held in Las Vegas, NV. We loved every second of it though. We spent every second we could together up until we got married. We sure were in engagement bliss.

Our wedding day was held in Las Vegas, NV...where I grew up. We got married in the Las Vegas LDS temple in the morning, then had a reception in Desert Shores later that evening. The whole day was an amazing day filled with love, family and friends. The moment Kyle and I were sealed together was the best moment of my life. We starred at each other in awe and excitement. This was the begining of a blissful marriage. Even though our wedding day was exhausting, it was so fun. We were finally Mr. and Mrs. Richardson!

After honeymooning in San Diego, CA and spending a week in Plano, TX with Kyle's family, we headed back to our new apartment in Provo, UT. Our first year of marriage was full of fun dates, stressful school days, and lots and lots of love. We didn't have much, but we had our education and we had each other. By the end of the year, I graduated from BYU and got a real world job as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. 2012 was very good to us, and we sure had a lot of fun trying to figure out how to really love each other.

2013 rolled along and Kyle started his last semester at BYU. I continued to work at the hospital, and we started to prepare for grad school applications. When we actually got to spend time together with our crazy schedules, we were always laughing and loving those little moments. Early in the year, I started having some weird symptoms with my body. After really thinking about what it could be, I decided to take a pregnancy test.

And guess came back positive!

Kyle and I were in complete shock! Kyle was so excited and couldn't stop smiling. I was extremely shocked and started thinking about what I could and couldn't eat anymore. We were both just so excited to be starting another milestone together. We were going to be parents.

In April that year, Kyle finally graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. We decided that Provo wasn't for us anymore, so we moved to beautiful Eagle Mountain, UT. We both started just working and preparing for our baby to come to this world. We really were enjoying our new graduated-from-college lives.

That summer we finally found out the sex our baby was going to be. We found out that we were going to have a rambunctious little baby boy! We were more than thrilled to find that out! We couldn't wait until October. We were so excited to meet our little guy.

On October 29, 2013 Kyle and I headed to the hospital to have our son. I was a week overdue, so I was being induced that morning. After a full day of contractions, we finally welcomed our little Everett into the world. The moment we became parents is one of the best we've ever experienced, and we sure love our son. Everett is such a happy baby boy, and we are so excited to watch him grow up.

And here we are today; a small family of 3 loving our beautiful life. The Lord sure has blessed our little family, and we can't wait to see where he'll take us next on our life's journey.
